The Meter

The Meter does the three sums an electrician does on site — voltage drop, conduit fill and ampacity derating — and updates the answer as the numbers are typed, rather than hiding it behind a Calculate button.

It carries no code tables at all. Base ampacity, ambient correction and allowable fill are entered from the code book adopted where you work, which is what lets the same app be used in any jurisdiction and why it never claims an authority it does not have. The arithmetic is ours; the table values, and the judgement, stay yours.

The Android build is compiled without the INTERNET permission — absent from the merged manifest, not merely unused, and checked against that manifest on every release — so the jobs saved on it cannot leave the phone. It is a one-time purchase, with no subscription, no ads, no analytics and no accounts.

Which electrical code does The Meter calculate to?

None, deliberately. Base ampacity, ambient and fill correction factors and allowable fill percentages are values you enter from the code book adopted where you work. That is what makes the same app usable in any jurisdiction.

Does it need an internet connection?

It cannot use one. The Android build ships without the INTERNET permission in the merged manifest, so it is not technically able to open a connection.

Where are my saved jobs kept?

In the app's private storage on your own phone. There is nowhere else for them to go.

Is it a subscription?

No. It is a one-time purchase, with no ads, no analytics and no accounts.
