Privacy policy for Ham Exam Trainer

Nothing. Ham Exam Trainer has no user accounts and no sign-in, no analytics or telemetry, no crash or performance reporting, no advertising, no attribution or tracking identifiers, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.

We do not receive your name, your email address, your callsign, your location, your device identifiers, or anything about which questions you keep getting wrong.

This is enforced by the build rather than promised in prose. The Android package is compiled with the INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions removed from the merged manifest, and every release is checked against the built manifest before it is submitted. An app without those permissions cannot open a network connection: there is no server to switch off, because there was never one to talk to.

The question pools are not fetched either. They are compiled into the app at build time from the NCVEC's public-domain releases, which is why the app works in a basement with no signal — and why it never asks anything of the network.

Every answer you give, every question you flag and every mock exam you sit is written to a SQLite database inside the app's own private storage. Your settings — the pool you are studying, theme, haptics, how the scheduler behaves — are held in a small key-value store in the same place. Android keeps that storage sandboxed from other apps on the phone.

Reset progress, in Settings, deletes every answer, flag and mock attempt. Uninstalling the app removes the database and the settings with it. Neither is copied to us at any point, because the app makes no network requests.

One thing worth knowing: if you have Android's own backup to your Google account switched on, the system may include this app's data in that backup. That copy lives in your Google account, under Google's terms, and we have no access to it. You can turn it off in your phone's system settings.

VIBRATE, and nothing else. It drives the short haptic tap that accompanies an answer, and you can switch it off in Settings. It grants no access to any data.

Ham Exam Trainer is a one-time purchase with no subscriptions and no in-app purchases. Google Play takes the payment; we never see your card details, your billing address or your name. What reaches us from Google is aggregate sales and payout reporting, which does not identify individual buyers.

Google's own handling of the transaction is governed by Google's privacy policy, not by this one.

Ham Exam Trainer is a study aid for a licence exam and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict and erase personal data a company holds about you. We hold none from this app, so there is nothing for us to hand over or delete — the data the app produces is on your phone and under your control.

If you believe otherwise, write to us and we will look into it. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

If you contact support, we hold your message and your email address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of the answer. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in supporting the software we sell. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass the message to anyone else.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and anything material is called out in the app's release notes. We do not change it retroactively.
